Pianist Seiju Sasaki



The Japanese Pianist, Seiju Sasaki, Born in Ofunato,Japan,he started to play the piano only by listening music at six years old before he could read many notes of sheet music. Began his piano studies at the age of seven with Hiroko Sakagami. And then also studied with Sumiko Misawa, Mari Akagi.


After graduating his high school, he began to study with Hanako Date at the Yamagata university, 

also studied privately with Miho Tanaka and Hajime Kohno. He graduated the University and earned the Bachelor of Education degree in Music.


Later he also studied with Jana Macharackova at Prague conservatory (Czech republic), and her husband, Hanus Barton who is a great Czech contemporary music composer and also pianist. Also studied with Katsurako Mikami and Minoru Nojima who is a world-wide great legendary pianist at The Toho Gakuen graduate school. He graduated it and earned the Master of degree in Music. 


Seiju Sasaki has participated in master classes and special lessons with many great artists including Eugen Indjic, Martin Hughes, Kyoko Tabe, Bruno Canino, and Atusko Seta.


He has won numerous awards including  prize for exellence in Nissin International Piano Competition in Tokyo (2002), second prize winner of piano section of Ⅵ category in internatinal vocal and instruments competition ''Citta di San Bartolomeo al male‘’ (2003) and first prize winner of piano section in International Music Competition ''Citta di Padova'' (2004) and first prize in All Japan Arts competition in Tokyo (2013) and third prize winner in Czech Music Competition in Tokyo (2019) and A. Ginastera special prize in Chiang mai Ginastera International Music Competition among others. 


Award-winning classical pianist Seiju Sasaki performs as a soloist and chamber musician throughout the Japan. His repertoire encompasses great classics and innovative new works such as Mozart, Schubert, Chopin, Liszt, Smetana, Dvorak, Janacek, Fazil Say, Sisask, Piazolla, and Ginastera. He's always happy to perform Czech piano pieces.Also interested in unknown beautiful works in the world. 


He has performed so many places around the world including Tokyo Opera city (Tokyo, Japan), Rudolfinum(Prague,Czech republic), Palffy Palace (Prague, Czech republic), Sala dei Giganti Palazzo Liviano (Padova,Italy),  Patona hall (Sendai,Japan) ,Tenbusu hall (Naha,Japan) and so on. 


He has held many piano recitals almost every year.He has also appeared on the Czech Radio in Prague (Chopin Ballad No.2 etc) in 2003. He has performed concerto No.4 by L.v.Beethoven in chamber version in 2015. He has recorded a his first CD''DreamsSmetana piano works'' was released in 2018.


Recently, In 2022, He has performed with Kimiaki Watanabe(Bandneon) and Shinichiro Tokunaga(Classic Giter) and Janne Tateno (Violin) in ''Piazzolla's trajectory'' at Patona theater in Sendai.


He also performed Slavonic Danses Vol.2(completed) with Ms.Hatsumi Saitoh by Piano Duet in ''Czech and chamber music and Piano vol.2 ''at Sendai silver center hall.


 In 2023, He has performed ''Ginastera's Festival vol.1'' in Ikebukuro,Tokyo sponserd by Japan Ginastera Association.Also has performed at Concerts in Chiang mai and he wil start to hold new recital series ''With Mozart'' in Sendai.


Now he isn't only a pianist but also a piano teacher at his piano school in Sendai.


At the request of YAMAHA and Sugawara Gakki in Miyagi and Fukushima, he have taught children in public special lessons for piano competition.


 For his teaching, he won The Best Excellence Teachers Award of 2016 from NIHON Piano Association. He also won The Teacher Award with High Hornor in European International Piano Concours in Japan(2019) 

 

He's the Jury of Japan Classical Music Competition and others.

He's a Chairman of the Tohoku Branch Management Committee in Japan Ginastera Association.
